Roger Keele Hiatt, age 73, of Payette passed away at his home Wednesday November 23, 2016. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Born July 23, 1943 the first of four children born to Clifton Keele Hiatt and Betty Faye (Presto) Hiatt, Roger grew up in Vale, Oregon, graduating from high school in 1962.
He finished his successful high school football career playing in the East-West Shrine football game held at Pendleton. Roger then attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande on a football scholarship.

Roger Keele Hiatt, age 73, of Payette passed away at his home Wednesday November 23, 2016. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Born July 23, 1943 the first of four children born to Clifton Keele Hiatt and Betty Faye (Presto) Hiatt, Roger grew up in Vale, Oregon, graduating from high school in 1962.
He finished his successful high school football career playing in the East-West Shrine football game held at Pendleton. Roger then attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande on a football scholarship.
In 1963, Roger married Adele Butler of Juntura, Ore. They had one daughter, Stormy Dawn Hiatt. The couple later divorced.
He married Joyce Skeen in 1971. They have resided in Payette since their marriage.
Roger sold insurance for Prudential Insurance Company for several years, worked in the honey bees for Tom Allen, and retired in 2014 from traveling throughout the northwest for Bon Appetit Gourmet Foods as a salesman.
He loved elk hunting with his brothers, father and brother-in-law and bass fishing at Paddock Reservoir.
Roger was known for looking after the widows of his friends doing such things as running errands and shoveling their sidewalks, or simply placing a phone call to check on them.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Roger is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Stormy Hiatt (JD) Gore of Madras, Ore.; grandson Jesse Keele (Paige) Sarkkinen and great granddaughter Harley, all of Prineville, Ore.; granddaughter, Brennah Sarkkinen and Charlie Miller of Wasco, Ore.; brothers, Lynn (Remy) Hiatt of Pasco, Washington and Mathew (Linda) Hiatt of Vale, Ore., sister, Rachel (Lynn) Haueter of Harper, Ore.; nephews and nieces, Chanon, Vanessa, Kurt, Josh, Tyler and Kelsey; five great nieces and three great nephews; and many extended family and multiple friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2 at the Eagle Lodge #3803, 620 S 8th, Payette. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memorial Chapel of Payette. His hunting buddies and family will spread his ashes at a later date.
